An integral part of the Calgary
Conjoint Nursing Program (CCNP)
Fostering an educational environment where students are comfortable
and confident combined with an emphasis upon the integration of various
learning modalities to nursing activities and skill acquisition, provides
students a sure foundation in their nursing career development. A
simulated hospital
environment is part of the ICAN along with a student
nurse lounge, computer room, critical care practice area, conference
room with an observation/audiovisual recording area and various other supply
and office space. A full time resource person is available for students
as well.

Trouble with medication calculations?
Medication competency (a.k.a. math calculations) help is available
in the ICAN
on a one to one basis, through use of CD ROM or worksheets (with
the answers!).

Your head to toe assessment should always include a perusal of
the latest lab value
results for your patient.
Electrolyte
imbalances can seriously affect your patients well being.
Critical clinical thinking:
What symptoms will you see with sodium depletion in your patient?
Critical clinical question:
Why should potassium ALWAYS be diluted before administration?
Hint: Remember what role potassium plays in nervous conduction.
